This statement by the Executive Chairman, Kosofe local government, Barrister Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe, when he paid unscheduled visit recently to Glory Estate in Ifako to investigate and address persistent flooding problems in the area emphasized his government determination to address the challenge and warn some few recalcitrant properties owners who have blocked the free flow of water in that axis thus causing the unwarranted flooding.
During his inspection, it was discovered that the drainage channel leading to the central canal had been obstructed by certain property owners, significantly contributing to the flooding issues plaguing the entirr community.
In response to this finding, Chairman Ogunlewe issued a stern warning to the responsible parties. He advised them to immediately clear the blockages and restore proper drainage flow, emphasising the importance of maintaining public infrastructure for the benefit of all residents.
The chairman made it clear that failure to comply with this directive would result in legal action.
This intervention demonstrates the local government’s commitment to addressing environmental challenges and ensuring the safety and comfort of Kosofe residents. The chairman’s visit and subsequent actions underscore the administration’s proactive approach to urban management and flood mitigation.
In a press release, issued and signed by the Spokesman of the Chairman, Comrade Oluwole Obisanya-Labia and made available to Kosofe News, he explained that Local government Authority would continue to monitor and assess the situation in Glory Estate, with follow-up inspections designed to ensure compliance to the laid down directives and assess the effectiveness of the remedial measure to mitigate the natural disaster.
