In a press statement signed and made available to Kosofe News by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Comrade Oluwole Obisanya-Labia, the Council’s boss emphasized his administration unfettered faith and commitment to preserve the lagacy of our ancestors.
“Traditional religion adherents and distinguished Custodians of our cultural heritage in Kosofe local government, as we commemorate this significant day, we pay homage to the deep-rooted wisdom and enduring legacy bequeathed to us by our ancestors. Our traditional beliefs and practices form the bedrock of our society, serving as a guiding light for our community’s progress and unity”. He said
“Today”, he added, “we honour the profound wisdom and enduring legacy of our ancestors. As the Ifa literary corpus reminds us:
“Òkun ṣú nàre nàre, Ọ̀sà ṣú lẹ̀gbẹẹ lẹ̀gbẹ.
*Aláṣán ń raṣán, Aláṣàn ń raṣàn*
*Àgbà ìmale wò ‘gbẹ̀yìn ọ̀rọ̀, Wọ́n ri pé kò suwọ́n*
*Wọ́n fi irunmú di gbágbá imú, Wọ́n fa’rungbọ̀n diyà pinpinpin*
*Dá fún ìṣẹ̀ṣe tíí ṣolórí òrò láyé, Bù fún ìṣẹ̀ṣe tíí ṣolórí òrò lọ́run*
*Ìyá ẹni ni ìṣẹ̀ṣe ẹni, Bàbá ẹni ni ìṣẹ̀ṣe ẹni*
*Orí ẹni ìṣẹ̀ṣe ẹni, Ọ̀kànlénígba irúnmọlẹ̀ ìṣẹ̀ṣe ẹni*
*ìṣẹ̀ṣe làbá bọ ní’fẹ̀, ká tó bọ ẹbọra.”
“These sacred words,” he said further,”remind us of the primacy of our traditional beliefs and practices. They are the foundation upon which our society stands, connecting us to our roots and guiding our path forward. As we celebrate today, let us reaffirm our commitment to preserving and promoting our cultural heritage. May the wisdom of our ancestors continue to light our way, fostering unity, peace and progress in Kosofe Local Government Area and beyond”, he prayed.
