In a rare display of uncommon athletic Skills, the Pupils and Students of Macdona Nursery, Primary and College, Ejigbo, Lagos put up a spectacular performances in their Annual inter house Sports, dubbed “3rd triennial inter house Sports” which indicates that our schools are veritable places to discover new talents for international Assignments and National sports development generally.
The colourful athletic events which took place at the sports Arena of Ronik Comprehensive School, Ile Epo off Ejigbo, Lagos covered both track and field events.
The track events included 75 metres, 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres, Marathon and 4×100 metres relays for junior and senior girls and boys.
Also at display were field events as High jump, long jump, Shot Put, Discuss and javelin for junior and senior boys and girls.
Other auxillary events of the colourful anniversary were, filling the baskets, picking the cone balls, filling the bottles amongst others for kindergarten pupils.
At the end of the energy sapping and competitive event, Orange house whose patron is Mrs. Ijeoma Ali-Balogun came first, second position went to Blue house with Mr. & Mrs. Idimogu as patrons while third position was Green House whose patron was Mr & Mrs. Onwumere.
Speaking at the event earlier, Mr. K. O. Dare, the Chairman of the Occasion lauded the organisers of the epic event particularly the management of the school for their job well done. He expressed his gratitude to the parents who came massively to give moral support to their children, adding that education didn’t end in Classrooms as sports was an integral part of education . He said further that new talents in athletics could be discovered in this grassroot event.
The proprietress of the School, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Bhadmus in her welcome address, said it was a special day in the life of the school. She said further that the event was not just about winning medals but about building strength, discipline, teamwork and above all, creating unity amongst their children.
She showed immense appreciation to all the staff for their dedication and their commitment to make the event a huge success.
