{"id":324,"date":"2024-07-31T06:54:02","date_gmt":"2024-07-31T05:54:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kosofenews.com.ng\/?p=324"},"modified":"2024-07-31T07:02:45","modified_gmt":"2024-07-31T06:02:45","slug":"moyo-ogunlewe-calls-for-calmness-in-kosofe-deliberates-on-peace-and-security-with-stakeholders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kosofenews.com.ng\/index.php\/2024\/07\/31\/moyo-ogunlewe-calls-for-calmness-in-kosofe-deliberates-on-peace-and-security-with-stakeholders\/","title":{"rendered":"Moyo Ogunlewe calls for calmness in Kosofe.         &#8230;deliberates on peace and security with stakeholders."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8216;A peaceful community is a secured environment for people to live and transact their daily business&#8217;.<br \/>\nThis remark underscores the importance attached to the security and peace meeting recently convened by the Executive Chairman, Kosofe Local Government, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe at the Council&#8217;s secretariat with the key stakeholders within the Council.<\/p>\n<p> In a release signed by the Public Affairs Unit of the Council, the security meeting was convened as a checkmate to the anticipated public protest.<br \/>\nIn his keynote address, the Council&#8217;s Chairman urged the  residents, particularly youths in Kosofe to abstain from  any act that would breach the public peace and violent protest of any kind or any criminal activity.<br \/>\nThe Council&#8217;s boss  referred to  the great efforts being made by President  Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address the grievances of the youths  and the People at large. He implored all the Stakeholders  present at the meeting to prioritize security awareness within their respective communities, recalling the ripples and the repercussions of the 2020 Endsars protest.<\/p>\n<p>The Honourable Member of the Lagos House of Assembly representing Kosofe Constituency 1, Hon.<br \/>\n Ganiyu Okanlawon Sanni (OKLA) urged  people to remain  calm, if possible stay at home during the protest and advised parents to dissuade their children from participating in the anticipated protest, highlighting the President&#8217;s commitment to fostering a more robust and prosperous Nigeria for all its citizenry. The lawmaker  reassured everyone that Federal Government are committed to ensure a brighter future for all.<\/p>\n<p>The Area Commander, Area H Command, Ojota, Assistant Commissioner of Police Rotimi Odutona, sternly cautioned against congregating on the streets, restating  the legality of peaceful protests as people&#8217;s fundamental right but imploring would be demonstrators to conduct themselves within the precinct of the law and in a peaceful manner to the designated venue.<\/p>\n<p>In similar vein, the Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman, Mr. Segun Babatunde who spoke on behalf of CDAs implored all parents to counsel their children not to participate in the proposed protest taking into cognizance<br \/>\nthe dangers associated with such act.  <\/p>\n<p>The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Kosofe Chapter, Pastor Gbenga Ogbooro, the Chairman, League of Imams, Alhaji Oludegun, Representatives Market Men and Women, Arewa Community, National Youth Council of Nigeria, other Youth Representatives, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and other notable stakeholders  expressed their resolute support against the impending protest while appealing for calm and to embrace dialogue to get Nigeria into the desired state.<\/p>\n<p>Also in attendance at the meeting are the Secretary to the Local Government,Hon.Fatai Gbadebo, who gave the vote of thanks,the Leader of the Legislative arm, Hon.
